What is PCORnet?

VUMC maintains a limited dataset containing clinical data to support research as a part of the Science, Technology and Research partnership (STAR), Clinical Research Network (CRN), funded by Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), which is part of the National Patient-Centered Clinical Research Network, PCORnet®.

    Description

    Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORnet) transforms millions of routine patient care data points into a standardized format for comparative effectiveness studies, pragmatic clinical trials, and health system innovation research. The Science, Technology, and Research partnership (STAR) Clinical Research Network (CRN) includes data from 9 health systems, covering over 25 million patients nationwide.

    • Enables rapid research feasibility assessments.
    • STAR CRN has over 25 million patients across the country and includes clinical records of patients since 2004.

        Limitation

        • The CDM supports EHR data in a limited dataset.
        • The length of time of data availability varies by site.

        Availability

        • All requests must go through STAR Clinical Research Network intake and receive the appropriate approvals as necessary (IRB, contracts, etc.).
